Rotisserie chicken is very convenient, but sometimes it’s hard to find one that is gluten and msg free. Thankfully is very easyto make in a crockpot and cheaper as well.
1 whole chicken
1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1⁄2 teaspoon onion powder
1⁄2 teaspoon dried thyme
1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil
1⁄2 teaspoon white pepper
1⁄2 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons olive oil
Rinse chicken and pat dry. In a bowl, combine spices and rub over entire chicken. Rub part of it underneath the skin as well, but try to leave the skin intact. Place it in a greased or lined slow cooker and drizzle olive oil evenly over the chicken. Cook on high for 3–31⁄2 hours or on low for 4–5 hours. Save the carcass to make chicken stock later.
This is the first in a series on meal planning. It’s a great way to save money and reduce your food waste. Although some of the items mentioned might not fit your diet, the basic principles are the same.
What you see on the surface isn’t always the truth. Sometimes gimmicks and coupons are not really saving money. If it causes you to buy something that you don’t want or need then it isn’t a great deal.
