Gingerbread Oatmeal

This has all of the wonder flavors of real gingerbread, but it can be altered if you like.  You can add any other toppings like raisins, sliced fruit, pecan pieces, crystallized ginger, maple syrup or honey, etc.

2 cups milk of choice (I use almond)

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground ginger

2 cups water, or more milk

1 teaspoon flax seed (optional)

2 teaspoon mild molasses

2 ripe bananas

1 tablespoon maple syrup

2 cups steel cut oats

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions :

Mix milk and water in a small pot and bring to a boil. Add the oats, and cook over medium heat. Incorporate the flax seeds. Mash the bananas thoroughly while the oats are cooking. Add them to the oats. Once the liquid has been absorbed, add cloves maple syrup, ginger, molasses, cinnamon and salt. You may want to add them little by little to suit your own taste.

Sounds yummy. I have oatmeal 4 to 5 times a week and am always looking for new flavors. This is going into the rotation for sure.
